Dan "The Beast" Severn (born June 8, 1954 in Coldwater, Michigan) is an American mixed martial artist and professional wrestler, notable for his success in the early years of Ultimate Fighting Championship tournaments. Severn has as well fought for numerous NHB & shootwrestling organizations including International Fighting Championship, Extreme Challenge, Future Brawl, United Shoot Wrestling Federation, PRIDE, U-Japan, King of the Cage, Gladiator Challenge and a total of Brazilian organizations.

Biography

Severn manufactured his number 1 appearance by using UFC at UFC #4: Retaliation of the Warriors, in which he captured a hearts of numbers of UFC fans by executing an telling back suplex in Anthony Macias. In the finals of UFC #4, Severn was defeated by Royce Gracie, who utilized the triangle chokehold. Severn captured a championship around UFC#5: Link to of the Animal, defeating Oleg Taktarov. Severn went in to win Ultimate Ultimate '96, the tournament of UFC champions.

Professional wrestling
Severn is an accomplished professional wrestler, having worked for UWF International in Japan, the National Wrestling Alliance and the World Wrestling Federation. He entered a NWA within 1995, and defeated Chris Candido for his first NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Severn would last in to win a UFC championship that season, making him a number 1 & simply human to hang on to a NWA & UFC championships at the same time. Severn would non once again hang on to sales person wrestling gold until 2001, when he once again won a NWA championship, this period from either Shinya Hashimoto. This title reign would become short-fugacious, while a title was stripped from either Severn when he was unable to pop up on the inagural TNA pay-per-view to defend his title; the belt was won that evening by Severn's long-instance competitor, Ken Shamrock.
